Orlando Rojas, is Canada Excellence Research Chair in Forest Bioproducts and Finland Distinguish Professor. He is elected Fellow of the American Chemical Society and the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Dr. Rojas is scientific director of UBC Bioproducts Institute, while holding appointments with the departments of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Chemistry and Wood Science. He is recipient of the 2018 Anselme Payen Award, the highest recognition in the area of cellulose and renewable materials. Dr. Rojas is founding member of the Boreal Alliance, a research cluster between Canada, Finland and Sweden that synergizes cross-boundary initiatives to advance the future forest-based materials bioeconomy.
