Speaker Bio
Dr. Armstrong is a Medical Genetics with the Provincial Medical Genetics Program. While she maintains a full scope medical genetics practice, she has special interests in collaborating with pediatric oncology in the realm of care of children with inborn predisposition to tumour and cancer development, as well as working with pediatric endocrinology and other relevant provider groups in caring for children with inborn differences of sexual differentiation. She is most excited about opportunities to apply genomic technologies to inform diagnoses, and guide prevention and treatment strategies for her patients.
Leadership experiences over time within the UBC Medical School, the UBC Genetics and Genomics Residency Program, the BCWH Clinical Ethics Board, and the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists and in particular its Board, all culminate to her current role as Medical Director of the Provincial Medical Genetics Program. Since staring in this role in 2019, she has been focused on leading the program in redeveloping itself and its relationships to assume its position in provision of cutting edge genomically informed care.
