Dr. Simren Brar is a Research and Innovation Manager, Natural Resources at Genome BC. She brings several years of experience working in forestry and the cannabis sector. Simren believes in developing partnerships and collaboration with academia, government and industry to foster the development and implementation of genomic tools to help solve challenges facing the forestry and cannabis sector.
Before joining Genome BC, Simren worked as a research scientist at Canopy Growth Corporation, where she led the pathology research program and pathology diagnostic lab. Simren holds a B.Sc and M.Sc. from the University of British Columbia in Forest sciences specializing in plant pathology. She completed her Ph.D. at Massey University in New Zealand in genetics. Her graduate research focused on landscape and population genetics of plant pathogens.
