Dr. Dorota Stefanowicz expertise includes a background in molecular biology, genetics, and epigenetics. She also brings strong organizational, project management, and knowledge dissemination skills to her position.

After completing her BSc at the University of Victoria, Dorota managed a genetics laboratory which exposed her to research investigating a variety of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases. Dorota went on to pursue graduate studies in the Experimental Medicine program at the University of British Columbia. Her PhD research was focused on epigenetic mechanisms of chronic airways disease. As a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics at UBC, Dorota worked on a multidisciplinary project investigating pharmaceutical targets for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

In addition, Dorota has a background in biobanking. She has worked with both local and international teams to facilitate organ procurement and tissue archiving for future research needs.
