Bruce Carleton is Chair of the Division of Translational Therapeutics in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia and Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, Medical Genetics, School of Population and Public Health, Centre for Health Services and Policy Research and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is an adjunct professor at the School of Health Information Science at University of Victoria and Senior Clinician Scientist at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Carleton runs the Canadian Pharmacogenomics Network for Drug Safety, a Canadian and International Network devoted to the study of the human genome to understand the biological mechanisms of drug and vaccine outcomes, particularly serious adverse events. This research is used for the development of innovative risk prediction tests, experimental therapeutic protective strategies as well as new drugs that are safer and more effective.

Dr. Carleton also serves the US Government as a Special Government Employee to advise the Advisory Committee for Pharmaceuticals and Clinical Pharmacology of the FDA. He is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology and the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology.
