Speaker Bio
Lisa Ridgway is a patient partner and a lawyer. After 15 years of wearing a suit and heels, she became an advocate for lived experience and the role of the patient in health care research. Today she partners with the University of British Columbia, UVIC, Island Health and the BC SUPPORT Unit (among other organizations). Lisa has an ongoing appointment with the NINET Laboratory at the Department of Psychiatry at UBC. Her work is grounded in mental health, including five years as a patient partner in pharmacogenomics research supported by Genome BC. She is a published, peer-reviewed author and perhaps best known for her work as a Research Ambassador under the Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research.
